Professional Enneagram Coaching

In case you haven't heard of it, the Enneagram is quickly becoming one of the most important aspects of self-discovery and personal development in our culture. It makes sense, the Enneagram is an intensely powerful tool that goes deep into a person's character structure to reveal the set of values, perspectives, and "autopilot" tendencies they live with.

It's also being adopted by pop psychology and becoming something akin to a "which Marvel Avenger are you?" quiz that you would find on facebook. (As a classic Bruce Banner, I just don't think it's that simple).

While the quizzes can be fun, the Enneagram is a powerful map for personal development, interpersonal communication, spiritual growth, and identity development. As someone who deeply values human flourishing, I took a deep dive into study and training so that I would be able to use the Enneagram in an effective way for my clients and friends.

Now that I'm in the practicum stage of my certification with The Narrative Enneagram, I'm excited to be able to start using this training in three particular ways:

Typing

The typing process is really only the beginning of the Enneagram work, but it's also foundational to the rest of the process. Typing tests can help you get an idea of what type you might be, but the accuracy of even the best tests are pretty low (even if you take them correctly, which many don't). Nothing really beats sitting down with someone well-versed in the nuances of the Enneagram and having them lead you through a typing interview.

In my training with TNE, I was encouraged to find that many of the difficulties people have identifying their type can typically be cleared up with a well-conducted typing interview with someone trained to spot the subtleties of type structure.

A well-conducted interview will factor in things like your current circumstances, cultural values, work on personal development and backstory. A trained interviewer will also be paying attention to verbal cues, directions of response, and somatic indicators (which is why interviews need to happen in real time and preferably with visual connection if not face to face).  It's a lot to keep track of, but that's honestly one of the reasons that I enjoy these typing interviews so much.

As a part of my practicum, I'm recording twelve interviews to be reviewed by my supervisor, so be sure to indicate that you're okay being recorded and you'll get a discount!

Coaching and Spiritual Direction

If you sign up for coaching or spiritual direction from me, at some point one of our sessions will most likely be a typing interview.

Quite simply, the Enneagram was designed to reveal all of the important indicators for personal development and spiritual growth (personal values, inherent perspective, subconscious priority structures, et cetera). Not only that, but the Enneagram symbol functions as a map to help orient these archetypes and provide clear paths of progress.

Using the Enneagram creates a much more focused and productive session without sacrificing content. It's useful for something as narrow and specific as understanding your ethos and personal communication strategy for a presentation at work. It's also useful for something as broad and multifaceted as life-mapping or cultivating spiritual awareness.

Group Teaching and Training

Working with groups is incredibly fun and becomes even more rewarding when I get to use the Enneagram as a tool for our group training.

There are several different teaching sessions that I offer for people that specifically talk about using the Enneagram in everything from creativity, to spiritual practice, to interpersonal communication. These teaching sessions are highly rewarding, especially when we have time for practice and interactions.

I also use the Enneagram in a team consultation capacity typically focusing on effective teamwork, clear communication, and organizational values. Typing interviews for the team depend on the level of involvement and size of the organization, but at the very least a distilled presentation of "Enneagram Awareness" is a part of the process alongside other identification and communication tools.

My favorite group interactions, though, are with couples, friends, and families. There's something about the interconnected nature of these relationships that make them extremely vibrant and rewarding when we can use the Enneagram to help people who love one another appreciate one another in whole new ways.
